July 2008
The anthology Speculative Realms: Where There's A Will, There's A Way is now available from www.speculativerealm.com.
This collection "gathers together thirteen original stories by authors around the world. They are stories of fantasy, science fiction and horror for adults which will entertain, provoke, startle, amuse and resonate long after the last page has been turned." (from the website)
My story in this collection is "Summer of the Widows," a humourous/fantasy/mystery tale. The teaser is: "Suspected of murder, a wizard's apprentice must find the real killer and save her master from an even more dangerous threat--marriage!" I'll be reading from this story at the local writers' summer bash on August 23rd.
To read teasers about all the stories or find out about the authors, or to order a copy, visit www.speculativerealm.com!

I have partials of my manuscript out to two agents right now, and am writing a new humorous fantasy as my NaNoWriMo 2007 project.
September 2007
I've finished the "final" draft of One's Aspect to the Sun and have been drafting a query letter and synopsis for it. I say "final" in quotations because of course there will be further drafts if requested. But only then!
I'm one of the three founding members of a new independent publisher, Third Person Press. Check out our website, www.thirdpersonpress.com, for details on our first project, an anthology titled "Undercurrents."
August 2007My story "Summer of the Widows" has been accepted to the Speculative Realm anthology. Publication is planned for July 2008.
May 2007
The aforementioned short story was completed and submitted several days before deadline. Whether or not it makes it into the anthology, I feel good about it and certain it will find a home somewhere.
March 2007
I'm working on a new short story--I've been invited to submit one
for consideration for a new anthology slated for next year from DAW
books. Excitement!
January 2007
Currently working on The Seventh Crow. Later in the month, or in February, watch for some news about my 2006 NaNoWriMo project, The Murder Prophet.
November 2006
I'm currently working on this year's NaNoWriMo novel, The Murder Prophet.
The local CBC station is taking an interest in Cape Bretoners
participating this year and keeping track of our progress on the Information Morning website. Eeek!

The Scriptorium has made the Writer's Digest list of 101 Best Websites for Writers again. Very cool!
November 2005
Once again the wondrous power of shared creativity that is National
Novel Writing Month has enabled me to churn out 50k+ words in 30 days.
Haven't reached "the end" of this story yet, but I'm very pleased with
the results so far.
April 2005
My unpublished SF novel One's Aspect to the Sun was awarded second place in the 28th Annual Atlantic Writing Competition's
novel category, the H.R. (Bill) Percy Prize. The competition is open to
writers from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and
Newfoundland & Labrador in five categories for unpublished works;
novel, short story, writing for children, poetry, and article/essay.
First prize in the novel category went to Dave Cameron of Halifax for The Bottle Collector; Honourable Mention went to Charlotte Mendel of Enfield, NS, for Unlike the Great Majority.
This is the novel I wrote during NaNoWriMo in November of 2003; you can read a blurb about it here.
My poem "Ghosts and Dark Objects" is in the current issue of Astropoetica.
